Paper Tigers

http://sfelectricworks.com/gal/art.php?art_id=vsco01004&artist_id=vsco01&artNum=4

"The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward."

Amelia Earhart

She's baller. Favorite line: The fears are paper tigers. I love that imagery. Thought about it when I took my test today. Rawr.

Still amazed by how God works in our lives. Praise God. I am so grateful for my friends who assist me in my discernment. Yesterday was just so cool. So many God moments. Clarity. As one of my art professors said "isn't that the coolest moment?" Freeing. Liberating. Why limit myself? Why not fail? Why not succeed? If you think you can you can, and if you think you can't you're right. Starting to sound like the Mr. Motivational speaker side of my father. I'm ok with it.

SPOTTED

A sugar glider in the library at 2 AM last night. For real. No lie.
So what else happens in the library after midnight?

Crayola Doesn't Make the Color of Your Eyes

I went to see the doctor. I'd come down with the blues.
She said "No, I can't cure you, but I know something you can do.
Take out a piece of paper, and sit down for a while,
And draw a pretty picture of something that makes you smile."
Well, I know what makes me happy. Didn't have to think for long.
But when I tried to draw it, it always came out wrong.
I had a box of 12, 48 and 64,
But nowhere could I find that one shade I was looking for.
I guess I realized shoulda come as no surprise
Crayola doesn't make a color for your eyes.
There is no way that I could possibly describe you.
Crayola doesn't make a color to draw my love.

At first I thought of Green Blue, but then I saw Blue Green.
And then sometimes in bright light, they look Aquamarine.
I think at night they're darker. I looked again for you.
Saw Grey and Black and went out walkin' after Midnight Blue
But the hues of the deepest skies would be a compromise
Crayola doesn't make a color for your eyes.
There is no way that I could possibly describe you.
Crayola doesn't make a color to draw my love.

Spring Green is much too yellow, Sea Green is far too pale.
Cornflower's way too mellow, so I'll try again and fail.
There's no way I can capture the way you make me feel.
One look from you is rapture, whether Blue or Green or Teal.
No color qualifies. That crayon's telling lies
Crayola doesn't make a color for your eyes

Hey look, it's Periwinkle. So sure I got it now.
But you wink and there's a twinkle in your eye and still, somehow,
I just can't get that sparkle. Those glitter crayons won't.
Maybe Glow-In-The-Dark'll get it right. Aw, no they don't.
Mr. Crayola tries, but I'm left to fantasize
Crayola doesn't make a color

For your eyes, something darker let's see what I can find.
Melted mahogany and got the depth not the shine.
Just about gave up and then I peeled the paper off a little end of...
Really thought it coulda been... ahh, not even Burnt Sienna!
Your passport says they're brown, but I'm gonna keep lookin' round...
Crayola doesn't make a color for your eyes
There is no way that I could possibly describe you
Crayola doesn't make a color to draw my love

Crayola doesn't make a color for your eyes
There is no way that I could possibly describe you
Crayola doesn't make a color to draw my love

Life happens :)

"The unfortunate, truly exciting thing about your life is that there is no core curriculum. The entire place is an elective. The paths are infinite and the results uncertain. College is something you complete. Life is something you experience. So don't worry about your grade or the results or success. Success is defined in myriad ways, and you will find it, and people will no longer be grading you."
- Jon Stewart, WIlliam & Mary commencement, 2004

There are days when I just really miss my pilates studio back home. So fabulous. So many years of my life. I am so grateful!! Kimo has influenced my life in so many ways. I just thank God so much for the people in my life.

Spring!

How can one not be happy and inspired? God's beauty is manifested in so many glorious ways. Even though I did not post any pictures of pansies, all I can think of is Steve Martin in Father of the Bride "and don't trample the pansies!" It's really more his emphasis and excitement when he says it. If you've seen the movie you know. If you haven't, well you are just missing out. Watch it.

1. New moleskin. Didn't realize it didn't have lines. UNRESTRICTED. So liberating. I'm excited.

2. I do not like Times New Roman font.

3. Ingrid Michaelson. Love her. All you can do is keep breathing. Reminds me of when I was intentionally left at Borders, for that was playing in the background. Makes me laugh now :)

Oh Kelly and Jessie. Thanks for putting up with my sugar high.

Platypus

adorable.

The connection between people awes me. It's something that has been on my mind a fair amount lately. You meet someone, and you just instantly connect. You do not get along with someone and then suddenly become intertwined. There are people who just get every fiber of your being. Some people just miss the mark. A difference between wanting to understand and actually understanding exists. Defining lines of intimacy. Unwanted understanding. Wising I didn't get you. Wishing you got me. Care. Looking to God for answers. Craving to be in union with the Lord above all else. 'In him we live and move and have our being,' Acts 17:28 how.cool.

Just talked to someone I hadn't seen in about two months. told me I sounded different. perceptive. amazing. hey God, you're mysterious ways awe me and bring me joy. thank you.
"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma."

I would add God to the list, but otherwise, good point.

Thanks Mom.

yumyumyum.
good study snack.
really good from trader joe's.
makes me think of jessie.
the website where i found the picture is nutsonline.com. why haven't i uncovered this gem before now?

60

Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore,
So do our minutes hasten to their end,
Each changing place with that which goes before,
In sequent toil all forwards do contend.
Nativity once in the main of light,
Crawls to maturity, wherewith being crowned,
Crooked eclipses 'gainst his glory fight,
And Time that gave, doth now his gift confound.
Time doth transfix the flourish set on youth,
And delves the parallels in beauty's brow,
Feeds on the rarities of nature's truth,
And nothing stands but for his scythe to mow.
And yet to times in hope, my verse shall stand
Praising thy worth, despite his cruel hand.

Mackenzie Connellee

Read more poems of Mackenzie Connellee in this new book. She is phenomenal and articulates her thoughts and her visions as one only wishes he or she could. I will admit I am slightly biased, but that does not diminish the talent she possesses.

wellspring

there are words that make me think
of you when i am underneath the sleeve
of sky. words like calico & canopy
& lyrical. words that sift over my tongue
like water. you are full of the delicacy
of being. you are the careful wing of a bluebird when it flits away, but
strong enough to carry it beyond
the bounds of branch. i cannot find
language beyond your eyes except
kindness, which is what overwhelms
me & makes me more honest. i don't
know if you see your own radiance,
so i am telling you here. you are
the comfort of sinatra's honeying
tones & the revelation of the first
colored leaf in autumn. you are
one tiny lantern in a dark room.
i want to follow close behind
your dancing shadow whenever
i grow weary. or just to know
that i am less alone, which is to be in your company. i have
to tell you i carry your goodness
around in my elbows & knees
so it stays with me, bouncing.
i have to tell you when i am
around you i forget my own
darkness. you are the words
wellspring of life. you are
like my heart.

Strength in Weakness

I don't think there is anyone who needs God's help and grace as much as I do. Sometimes I feel so helpless and weak. I think that is why God uses me. Because I cannot depend on my own strength, I rely on him twenty-four hours a day.

JABBERWOCKY

Lewis Carroll

(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Real Prayer

Real prayer is union with God, a union as vital as that of the vine and the branches which is the illustration Jesus gives us in the Gospel of John. We need prayer. We need that union to produce good fruit.

Canto Alla Vita

Dedicato a chi colpevole o innocente
perso in questo mare
si è arreso alla corrente
chi non è mai stato vincente?

Dedicato a chi ha sempre una speranza
davanti ad un dolore
nel freddo di una stanza

Dedicato a chi cerca la sua libertà

Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza

I sing to life
To its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife
Let all that dance through me
The rise and the fall I lived through it all

There is BEAUTY in the BREAKDOWN.

The human body is absolutely fascinating. I love the complexity with its juxtaposition of emotional, physical, and psychological composition. I like that my body can know me better than I, mentally, can know me. I'm learning each day to listen more and more to my body. I am rather in tune with my body, but I need to remember to respect it and to listen to its cues. That being said I do find an unparalleled beauty in the breakdown, for it can reveal so much.

God made the body to protect the heart.

Company: Sorry-Grateful

LARRY:
Good things get better, bad get worse.
Wait, I think I meant that in reverse.

HARRY, DAVID, LARRY:
You're sorry-grateful,
Regretful-happy.
Why look for answers
When none occur?
You'll always be what you always were,
Which has nothing to do with, all to do with her.

HARRY:
Nothing to do with, all to do with her.

The epitome of spring break

Makes my heart smile.

Such an accurate description.

Third Sunday of Lent March 7

Lord, when I am discouraged by my weaknesses help me to have confidence in your love.

Psalm 37:2-9

Trust in the LORD and do good that you may dwell in the land and live secure.
Find your delight in the LORD who will give you your heart's desire.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust that God will act
And make your integrity shine like the dawn, your vindication like noonday.
Be still before the LORD; wait for God. Do not be provoked by the prosperous, nor by malicious schemers.
Give up your anger, abandon your wrath; do not be provoked; it brings only harm.
Those who do evil will be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD will possess the land.

I like cheesy romance songs.

While listening to the textures (soft piano): Romantic piano station on
Iceburgradio.com: Beautiful by Jim Brickman featuring All 4 One

From the Moment I saw you,
from the moment I looked into your eyes
there was something about you
I knew I knew
that you were once in a life time
a treasure near impossible to find
and I know how lucky I am to have you

Chorus:
Cause I've seen the rainbows that can take your breath away
the beauty of the setting sun that ends a perfect day
and when it comes to shooting stars, I've seen a few
but I've never seen anything...as beautiful as you

Holding you in my arms
no one else has fit so perfectly
I could dance forever with you, with you
and at the stroke of midnight
please forgive me if I can't let go
cause I never dreamed I'd find a Cinderella of my own

Chorus:
Cause I've seen the rainbows that can take your breath away
the beauty of the setting sun that ends a perfect day
and when it comes to shooting stars, I've seen a few
but I've never seen anything...as beautiful as you

Chorus repeat:
Cause I've seen the rainbows that can take your breath away
the beauty of the setting sun that ends a perfect day
and when it comes to shooting stars, I've seen a few
but I've never seen anything...
Oh Oh, Oh no, I've never seen anything...as beautiful as you

from the moment I saw you,
from the moment I looked into your eyes...

one of my all time favorite quotes. ever. helped me get through a lot.
thanks Mom for sticking this in my fury pink lunch box.

Ducks on a pond

Sometimes my mind just races and races and races. The wheels keep turning until I cannot even articulate my thoughts. Blank. Stares. Thoughts. Numb. It's a vicious cycle. First my mind gets going then frustration sets in because I am violently trying to settle my mind. Then it just starts all over.

Time is like an hourglass fixated on a table. It only turns over with the dawn. But that is not enough.
