old journals, revisited.
jan 19, 2008: (titled: beautiful causes.) falling asleep with your make up on, tear ducts, stretch marks, dark circles, overweight fathers who put everything into providing good lives for his wife & children that he doesn’t have time to work out, wedding rings that never come off, dirty hair, thrift store clothes, long hours, dollar store razors, sweat stains, worn in church pews, penny pinchers, broken hearts over broken homes, wrinkles, mismatched socks, simplicity, scars, rock bottom and back, blisters, mistakes, loving til you’re exhausted, faith in the One who makes your heart beat, soup kitchens, dependencies, elderly humans who share life lessons, boys who love so deep they cry, radical generosity, harmony.
give me these over diamond rings and billion dollar homes; place me beneath you in the corporate chain, i am sustained by Christ’s blood alone, i thrive when serving. wear me down, rip me open, shatter me; i have already been rescued.
love is a journey that knows no end.
